University of Pennsylvania

Apparently, I'm an idiot and got a lot of information wrong (including the date and actual school) about my visit to the University of Pennsylvania. Everything has been updated now, and I'll be there this Thursday night at 7:30pm.

The events calendar is now correct. Check it out for the specific location on campus. I'm looking forward to it!

My Book

Some of you may know this already, but for the last 5 months or so, I've been working on a book to be published through CruPress. The book is about evangelism and it's essentially a five week study to be done individually or with a group of like-minded peeps you happen to call "friends".

The book was sent off today and is now officially out of my hands and on the computer of a designer that will make it look very pretty...in a rugged and masculine kind of way, but pretty nonetheless.

I'll keep you updated as I know more about its progress, but the goal is to have the book printed and ready to go by the start of Big Break this year, which is the beginning of March. I pray that happens and I'm super excited that it will be coming out soon.

More to come...

My Brush with Famous People - Part 2

shelby_danMe and Dan Haseltine from Jars of Clay at RADIATE09. He was literally one of the nicest celebrities I've ever come in contact with.

My Brush with Famous People

Me and Chris Sligh in the green room at RADIATE09. In case you were wondering, I'm the one on the left. Yes, he was bigger than me. Yes, most people chuckle when they see this picture and notice how much bigger he is than me, so you're not the first. Yes, he was nice.

There. Enough said.

Tick, tick, tick...

It's crunch time for Uncle Shelby.

I'm currently in the process of getting together all the last minute details for RADIATE09. Practicing parodies, writing in filler humor, composing interview questions for our celebrity guests...you know, stuff like that. I'm really excited for the conference this year and am eagerly anticipating what God will do when we all get there. If you haven't signed up yet, there's still plenty of room, and walk-ins are totally welcome.

Until then, though, have a great Christmas, do well in your fantasy football leagues, and don't over eat too much before the 28th comes--I want you healthy for the big day the conference starts.

Later, kids. See you in 1.5 weeks.

Spring Tour

I've been working on booking some dates for my Spring tour for Shelby's Seminar and so far, it's looking pretty good. Of course, Big Break will be taking up a considerable amount of time come March, but I think that'll be worth it, don't you?

Anyway, in the mix right now is West VA University, Bridgewater College, Salisbury University, UVA, possibly Jersey Cru and a few schools in the Philadelphia area. I'm excited to see where the road will take me and I hope there will be a lot of laughs for you along the way.

In the mean time, be sure to sign up for RADIATE09, because I'll be emceeing that conference from the 28th of this month through the New Year, January 1st! It's going to be an awesome conference with a lot of cool speakers/talented musicians. You won't regret coming to this, I promise.

I'll keep you posted on more school tour stops as they arise, but until then, marinate on the words of Will Ferrell: "There is no off position for the genius switch."

The Latest

Thanksgiving proved itself to be a holiday like the many that came before it in years previous...full of food and really bad football. I was extremely underwhelmed by the lack of quality football that happened Thanksgiving day and overwhelmed by how much I actually ate.

My day started with the parade on TV (Macy's, of course), that made me wonder what the big deal is about giant balloons of SpongeBob Square Pants and floats for ambiguous Nickelodeon kid's shows. All peppered by various bands and Broadway shows that were so obviously lip-syncing, it made even me go, "so when do we get to see Santa?" Then he showed up.

Wow, Macy's picked a bad Santa for the end of the parade this year. He kept touching the side of his nose, lip-syncing the "ho ho ho" off beat, and waving to the same three kids on the side of the street. Plus his beard was far too short.

Then football came and made me fall asleep. Enough about that...let's move on to other things.

I'm off to JMU this week to speak at the annual "Christmas Cru" on Thursday night at 8:00 in HHS 2301. I'm a last minute substitution for the director there (my hero, Dan Flynn), who is suffering from a bad case of his organs trying to kill him (appendix burst). I'm looking forward to being back in Harrisonburg and can't wait to see everyone there.

Thirdly, RADIATE09 is fast approaching and the time to sign up for the conference is NOW! Make sure you sign up before the 4th to save $26 on the registration cost...the price goes up after Friday. It really is going to be a great conference and I can't wait to get there and see what God will do!

That's it for now. Talk to you again soon!...or see you at JMU.

NEWS...

Lots to tell about my Thanksgiving holiday in a blog post coming Monday. Impromptu visit to JMU this Thursday. RADIATE09 update. More details at the beginning of the week. For all the latest, keep up with me on Twitter.

Until Monday... Shelby

Channeling My Inner T-Pain

I worked on a rap today for our speaker at RADIATE, Darryl Smith. I was diggin' on some tracks layed down by my "I Am T-Pain" App on my iPhone and I couldn't help myself. If it works and I'm able to get my hands on the audio file that I recorded on my phone, I'll have a little something special for Darryl the last morning he speaks.

Shawty.

RADIATE09 Emcee Promo Video

You may be wondering, "What the heck is that?" Good question. I don't really know how to answer specifically, but trust me...it's for a purpose.

We shot some stills today for the RADIATE09 emcee promo video that will be playing at the conference the first night. Green screen is a funny and wild thing that makes all of life more interesting. You'll have to come to RADIATE to see the final product.

Also, please no Brady Bunch jokes about the picture above.
