One of My Favorite Images from the Summer

Ocean City Summer Project

I know that I haven't been blogging much lately at all, but I figured that Twitter has been dubbed the "micro blogging" application, therefore I've been blogging every day...multiple times a day.

I've been in Ocean City, MD for the past few weeks on a Summer Project with about 14 other CCC staff and 32 CCC students.  Been having a great time and the schedule is crazy.  Something is literally going on every day and night, so time to pull away and type out my thoughts is hard to do.

Having said that, here are a few images of some recent events. One of me dressed to blend in on the boardwalk for our annual staff hunt.  The students come looking for us out in the crowd...guess who never found me once? Yeah, suckas.

The other shot is of the ferris wheel they have at the carnival end of the boardwalk.  I took it with my iPhone, but I think it captures the atmosphere quite nicely. Enjoy!

Cinco De Mayo+Pee Wee=Celebration

Today is Cinco De Mayo and as far as I can tell, only the Corona beer company still celebrates. Well, that's not entirely true, but from all the advertisements that I'm seeing on TV, it's a good day to sell their beer.

I'm celebrating in a completely different way...by watching Tim Burton's amazing classic "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" on 9 individually uploaded videos via YouTube. This video probably has the most Cinco De Mayo spirit in it, so I recommend taking some time to celebrate by having a watch.

Have a happy May 5, people. Viva la Mexico.

10 Miles...I'm Bragging

It's not really a big deal or anything, but yesterday I ran 10 miles in the Philadelphia Broad Street Run. Actually, it was a really big deal. I've never run that far in my entire life...and I plan on never running that far again in my entire life.

No, I don't desire to do it all over again. No, I don't want to run a marathon now. No.

Yes, my feet hurt. Yes, my thighs ache. Yes, I feel like my hips are 85 years old. Yes.

Was it worth it? Yes, because I feel like I accomplished something that I never thought I would...and I know that in about 9-12 days when the pain wears off, I'll appreciate my accomplishment even more. Talk to me then and I might (might) be willing to pick up running again.

Oh, one more thing...

This is what Baltimore looks like.

Spicy Orange Fish Nuggets

I just got back from a little trip to Baltimore, MD. The city is beautiful. Just marvelous. I took in the inner harbor, enjoyed the sea breezes, caught an Orioles game and even enjoyed a meal at The Cheesecake Factory with some of my friends.

That, however, is where it got super interesting. Have you ever ordered something off a menu, then once you took a bite, gone, "hmmm, that tastes different than I thought it would"? Just such a phrase came out of my mouth after I ordered and received my plate of Orange Chicken that I requested from the 74 page Cheesecake Factory menu.

The first two Chinese food-style nuggets were tasty and "zingy" as I anticipated from the paragraph long description that I read when we all sat down at the table together and perused the dining options. The third bite, however, was very much unanticipated.

I bit into the nugget with fervor, longing to fill my tummy with the delicious chicken, and experienced the flavor of the sea...and not the good "lobster flavor" kind of taste.

All I could think of was "Orange Fish Oil". I kept repeating that phrase in my mind until it inevitably escaped my mouth along with the partially chewed remains of the third nugget.

I immediately informed my waitress, who kept saying, "wow, that's weird" and she hooked me up with a free piece of chocolate mousse cheesecake. That, as an aside, did not taste like orange fish oil, but like pure wonderfulness.

My assessment: worth it. I'll bite into an orange fish nugget any day if my happy ending is a dessert so delicious that even now as I think about it, saliva is beginning to form and pool at the base of my tongue.

Hooray for Baltimore.
